Gilbert R. Allen, 93, passed away on June 13, 2010 in Oklahoma City. He was the oldest son of William W. Allen and Stella Mae Gooch-Allen. Gil was born in Terra Haute, IN on February 28, 1917. He grew up in Oklahoma as his father, William moved from the coal mines of Kentucky to the oil fields of Oklahoma in the 1930's. William was an official of the OCAW Union. In 1935, Gil, graduated from Foster High School in OKC. When the family moved to California he remained in Oklahoma. Gil was briefly employed by the civil service in 1942 before being called up to the Army Air Corp in 1943. He spent three years during WWII in the Aleutian Islands. While on leave in 1943 Gil met and married Juanita Elizabeth Cassil. After the war Gil, worked for the IRS as a field agent. He retired in 1974 at the age of 57 and opened Allen's tax service. Gil is survived by three daughters; Linda McDaniel of Surprise, AZ., Anita Allen of Highland Ranch, CO., and Laura Gorman of Palm Harbor, FL.; two grandchildren and one great grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Juanita passed in 1991 and Gil met Leveta Capps who became his constant companion for over 12 years. She has been a dedicated caregiver for the past 15 months while Gil valiantly fought cancer. He was a hunter, fisherman, golfer, dancer, singer, and an avid fan of casinos. We will miss him and know you will also.
