It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Louis Roesslein, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Gordon passed away peacefully on April 16, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loving family.Gordon was born on July 21, 1937, in Genoa, IL, the son of Ferdinand and Norma (Kray) Roesslein and grew up in the Harvard area. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and served honorably from 1955-1958.Following his service, Gordon returned to Illinois and married the love of his life, Barbara Zerby, on September 17, 1960, in DeKalb, Illinois. Their 62-year marriage was a testament to their deep love and devotion to each other.Gordon was a skilled and gifted technician who had a passion for fixing things. He began his career repairing copier equipment for Xerox and later worked for Rockwell International as a technician for newspaper equipment. He was dedicated to his work and traveled extensively throughout his career. After retiring from Scripps Howard, he worked briefly at a plastics factory in Woodstock and later for Ziegler's Ace Hardware before retiring for good.Gordon will always be remembered for his warm and friendly personality, his sense of humor, and his unwavering devotion to his family. He loved spending time with his wife, Barbara, and his two sons, Steven (Colleen) and Jeffrey (Tina). He was also a proud and loving grandfather to his two grandsons, Alexander and Colton.Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Keith, Donald, and Raymond, and two sisters, Joann Padgett and Patsy Smith.He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his two sons, Steven and Jeffrey; his two grandsons, Alexander and Colton; and several nieces and nephews.Gordon's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed. A family graveside service will be held at a later date in Woodstock, IL.
