Harold Earl 'Harold E. Haddy Neikirk' Neikirk

Harold E. "Haddy" Neikirk, 94 years old, died December 26, 2010, at Integris Hospice of Oklahoma City. Harold was born May 4, 1916, in Attica, OH, son of Elra and Enid Neikirk. He went to business college in nearby Tiffin, OH, where he met Mary Alice Mangett, whom he married September 19, 1939. He was transferred from the Sohio Petroleum Company home office in Cleveland to Oklahoma City in 1947, where he worked until 1959. He worked for the Hefner Company from 1960 to 1980, then for Arbuckle Enterprises, where he retired in 1985. Harold was an active and energetic member of St. Francis of Assisi parish since 1947, where he was founding president of the Parish Council, founding member and past president of the St. Francis Men's Club. He served as president of the Rosary Home and School Association and of the Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School PTA. Harold was athletic director at Rosary School and coached football, basketball and baseball. He served as Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 68. He spent much time in service to the parish leading and participating in numerous renovation projects with his brother Knights of Columbus. He was past Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus Chapter 4601. His grandchildren knew him as a warm and generous Grandpa, an easy touch for nickels and dimes and ice cream cones and lobster. They could not imagine him as the disciplinarian remembered by their fathers and uncles. Before he had grandkids to spoil, Harold was a league bowler, cutthroat bridge player, and enthusiastic golfer. Harold was predeceased by his wife Mary Alice, who died January 5, 2000, and is survived by five children, David, Dennis, Dale, Deborah, and Dean, eight grandchildren, Amy Eikenbary, Katherine Neikirk, Julia Neikirk, Josh Neikirk, Colin Neikirk, Nate Roberts, Travis Roberts, Sarah Burnett, and three great grandchildren, Will and Jack Eikenbary and Ethan Neikirk. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Rosary School.
