Harold Johnson, of Oklahoma City, OK, while resting peacefully at home, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2021. His loving wife Mary Jo was by his side as she has been every day during their 59 year marriage. Harold was the first-born child to Robert (Bob) and Irene Johnson on January 15, 1938, in Memphis, TN. He lived in Memphis until his family moved to Oklahoma City in 1955. Harold graduated from Central Catholic High School, now Bishop McGuiness High School, in 1958. With the nickname McGoo, Harold played football and was named All-City and All-State in 1957 and 1958. Starting at age 16, he found a passion for bowling and played on leagues for over 30 years. Harold attended Cameron University in Lawton, OK and served in the Army National Reserves from 1960 to 1965. Harold and Mary Jo Faust were married on January 27,1962 and raised four children together in Oklahoma City. As devoted Catholics, he and Mary Jo have been members of St. Eugene's Parish for 54 years. Harold, a professional salesman at heart, worked for the Fullerbrush Company for 53 years building a door-to-door business and serving loyal customers across the metro area. Harold loved people, never met a stranger and always talked to everyone who he passed by. Harold was active in the community and church serving as a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and also served as President of the Ostomy Association for over 10 years.As a devoted Father and Pappaw, Harold treasured his family. He enjoyed family time and especially sharing in his kids and grandkids school and sporting events. Even if it meant traveling, sitting in the wind, snow or rain, he was always there to cheer them on. To relax, his favorite thing was watching cowboy movies or listening to all genres of music, especially the big band music of the 1940's.Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Johnson of Oklahoma City; Three children Kim Johnson, of Oklahoma City, OK; Tammy Woodliff and husband Scott of Edmond, OK; Robert Johnson and wife Natalie of Sallisaw, OK; His sister Vicky Ralph and husband Mike of Memphis, TN; His Sister-in-Law Alene Johnson; Eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by son, Cary Johnson, his parents Bob and Irene Johnson, and brothers Robert C. Johnson and Donald M. Johnson.A celebratory Mass will be held at 1:00p.m., on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at St. Eugene's Catholic Church in Oklahoma City, OK. Preceded by a Rosary Service at 6:30p.m., on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel. The Funeral mass will also be available for viewing on the St. Eugene Catholic Church YouTube channel.
