Harold L. Cullen, age 88, passed away Oct. 12, 2010. He was born Dec. 28, 1921, the first of four children born to Harry and Britta Cullen. Harold lived a rich and blessed life. Growing up in OKC he graduated from Classen High School. Harold survived polio as a teenager having spent 14 days in an iron lung. Harold married Martha Giesey in 1940. They were parents of two children. Harold later married Glennora Thompson on July 19, 1948. They were the parents of six children. Harold was preceded in death by his son Harold Patrick who died as an infant, his grandchild Christopher Ryan Cullen who also died as an infant and his wife Glennora on Feb. 12, 1997. Harold is survived by his sister Patty Waltemath and his seven children and their spouses; Jean Newman, Patrick and Pam Cullen, John and Laura Cullen, Stacy Merrifield, Mary and Tim Leake, Bill and Pam Cullen, Cecil and Bob Bailey. Harold is further survived by 23 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Harold was a part owner of both Cullen Lumber Company and Lumberman's Supply which gave over 50 years of service to OKC. Harold served as past presidents to both the Oklahoma Lumberman's Association and the OKC Home Builders Association. Harold received many awards of merit from the OKC Home Builders Association as well as an award as Oklahoma Home Builder of the Year in 1975. Harold was responsible for building hundreds of houses in the OKC metro area as well as developing a number of housing additions in OKC that carry the Cullen name. Harold was strongly committed to his Roman Catholic faith. One of his greatest achievements was his work in building the current monastery of the Carmel of St. Joseph and his relationship with the Carmelite Nuns.
