Harold Eckel, age 95, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010. Harold was born on April 4, 1915 in Sterling, IL. His loving wife of 70 years, Eunice, two brothers, Ralph and Francis, two sons, Donald and David Eckel and son-in-law Norbert Hoehner preceded him in death. Two sons, James (wife Linda), Robert (wife Janet) and daughter Julia, 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends survive him. Harold was raised in Sterling, IL where he met his wife Eunice. He worked as the circulation manager for the Sterling Gazette before moving his family to Wynnewood, OK in 1952 where he and his wife opened a dry cleaning business. Harold also worked as a constable for Garvin County. Later he became the Chief of Police for the Wynnewood Police Department where he worked for many years. Harold and Eunice moved to Oklahoma City in 1970 where Harold dedicated the remainder of his working career to the Parish of St. Francis of Assisi and Rosary Catholic School. Harold enjoyed spending time with family and friends, meeting new people and brought a smile to the faces of those he encountered.
