Heidi Melynn Barker

Heidi Melynn Barker, 26, entered her eternal home on April 12, 2011 while in Los Angeles, CA. We received Heidi as a gift from God on May 9, 1984 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Heidi attended Ralph Downs Elementary, Hefner Middle School and graduated from Southwest Covenant Christian School in 2002. She later attended the University of Oklahoma and Boca Raton Beauty Academy in Boca Raton, FL, and worked in retail. She enjoyed basketball and softball early on but blossomed in her musical and creative writing gifts. She was a member of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Children's Choir, Putnam City Honor Chorus, and was selected to attend the Summer Arts Institute in creative writing while in high school. She was an honor student and editor of her high school year book. During her youth, she was an active member at Village Baptist Church. Her greatest joy was going on mission trips, choir trips and attending Falls Creek Baptist Assembly. Heidi had a loving and compassionate heart for people especially the hurting and needy. She would often give them what she had to try to help others in need. In spite of her challenges in life, she always maintained her sense of humor, her joy and her relationship with her Lord and Savior. She is survived by her parents, Mel and Sherri Barker, loving sister, Hilary Knippers and adoring brother-in-law, Allen Knippers; grandparents, Ortrey and Harlene Hawley of Ardmore and Bud and June Barker of Oklahoma City as well as many loving and supportive family members and friends.
