Helen Joan Hoch passed away after an extended illness. Helen was born in Shreveport, LA, and lived her adult life in Oklahoma City. Helen is predeceased by the love of her life, Albert J. Hoch Sr, her parents, Joseph and Anna Meziere as well her brother, Joseph Meziere and sister, Fleta Meziere. She leaves six children: Albert Jr., George and his wife Mary, Debbie Hoch and her husband Paul Wicker, Sue Vega and her husband Art, Mary Cassidy and her husband Mike, and Janet Ciupak and her husband Don; 22 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 3 expected great grandchildren all of which are simultaneously her favorite. She is also survived by her sister, Hazel Meziere of Oklahoma City and a special niece, Diane Meziere Hudson of Los Angeles, California. Helen shared a wonderful bond with Tom and Joanne Hoch of Christ the King Parish and Bud and Francis Hoch of Oklahoma City and the extended Hoch family across the country.
Helen started her career as a telegraph operator at Western Union, later working at Continental Oil Company and Sears until her retirement. She remained friends with many of her colleagues.
She and her husband Al were charter members of Christ the King Catholic Church. She remained active in the school and church over the last 60 years. She was active in the altar society, parish council, and Share and Care Club with 22 parish stars. She also served as past president of PTA and was a Eucharistic minister.
Helen and Al were avid believers in the value of Catholic Education and continued support of this throughout their lives. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the St. Ann Nursing Home and Mercy Hospice as they walked through this journey with us.
An Evening Prayer Service with Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 7th at Smith & Kernke N. May. The family will receive guests immediately after. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 8 at 2 P.M at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1905 Elmhurst Dr. Oklahoma City, OK 73120 with Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
