Herman died February 9, 2018 in Oklahoma City. He was born March 22, 1921, in Carnegie, OK, the son of William Fulton and Ella Marie Campbell. He grew up in Carnegie and graduated from high school there in 1939. He married Geraldine Briggs April 19, 1942 and moved to Mountain View. He worked for Haliburton before joining the U.S. Navy and serving during WWII from July 21, 1942 to October 18, 1945. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Mountain View where he established Campbell Garage and Diesel Fuel Injection Pump Service which he owned and operated for over 40 years. He was a pioneer in diesel fuel injection pump service. For a time, he taught diesel mechanics at Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center in Fort Cobb and also served on the board of directors for Okmulgee Technology Center. After Geraldine died in 1983, he moved to Oklahoma City and worked several years for American Electric Ignition. He later married Florine Ramsey, who died in 2011. In his last years, he met Dorothy Lawson, who became his dear friend and dance partner until her death last year. Herman was a member of the Catholic Church and while in Mountain View, he was very active in the community. His greatest joy was his antique cars, touring and socializing with other antique enthusiasts. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, a brother, sister, and a grandson, John William Bradley. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Bradley and husband Dr. Joe Bradley of Oklahoma City, and Susan Sawyer and husband Mike of Lawton; three grandchildren, Carolynn Brown and husband Dustin, Dr. John Dyer and wife Christina, and Rebekah Powers and husband Jay; and five great grandchildren, Delaney Bradley, Layla and Emma Dyer, and Nikolas and Haleigh Powers. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dr. Rickie Conrady, Dr. Robert Reynolds, and Dr. Charles McWilliams. They especially thank Chazette Barnes for her special care and the nurses at Integris Hospice House. A viewing will be at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, at Smith & Kernke May Chapel. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery at 3 p.m.
