Holly Jean (Bergstrom) Young entered into Heaven on a beautiful and mild summer day in Edmond, Oklahoma on Thursday, August 24, 2017. She passed away after a long, hard fought battle with Parkinson's Disease, which was diagnosed in 2007.
She was born on the wintery day of December 18, 1953 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to Rowland and Jeanette (Schnaser) Bergstrom. Holly had lived in Windom, Minnesota with her family until they moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1963 when her family acquired ownership of a motor lodge there.
Holly graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, New Mexico in 1972. She married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Young, on June 9, 1972. They were married for 45 years until her death. Holly worked in the banking industry in Midland, Texas for many years and retired in 1980 after her first child was born. She also worked as a volunteer for numerous church day-care programs in Midland, Texas for many years. In recent years, she launched Holly's Angels Gift Program to provide holiday gifts to 80 special needs residents in Wetumka, Oklahoma. She continued this program for many years until her health no longer allowed her the ability to carry on with the program.
Holly is survived by her husband, Dennis Neal Young; two children, Jared Michael Young of Cudjoe Key, Florida and Chelsea Michelle (Young) Reynolds and husband Michael of Edmond, Oklahoma; and her grandchildren Willow Reynolds, Lily Reynolds, Jade Young, Zoey Young and Gage Young; brother Kerry Bergstrom and wife Joanie of Olive Branch, Mississippi; brother Chad Bergstrom and wife Katherine of Chandler, Arizona.
Holly's life will be commemorated with a "Peachy Celebration of Life" memorial service at Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in the morning.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Autumn Leaves Memory Care and Sooner Hospice for the special care Holly received from them. Holly had participated in many clinical trials for Parkinson's Disease to help advance the treatment of the disease. The family requests that any donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation of Oklahoma, 720 W. Wilshire, Suite 109, Oklahoma City, OK 73116, to support the research of this disease which currently has no cure.
