Dr. Hugh Francis Maguire, III
Dr. Hugh Francis 'Bo' Maguire, III was born May 17, 1928 to Hugh and Helen Maguire and died April 18, 2011 with his family at his side. Bo graduated from John Carroll High School, University of Oklahoma, and Kansas City Western Dental College. He served two years in the United States-Air Force Dental Corp, then returned to Oklahoma City in 1956 where he practiced dentistry until his retirement in 2004. Bo was a Life member of the Oklahoma County Dental Society, Oklahoma Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. He also started the dental clinic at the J.D. McCarty Center, was on the steering committee to facilitate the opening of the OU College of Dentistry, and founding Executive Board member of Delta Dental Plan of Oklahoma. Bo was an active, lifelong member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral Catholic Church. Among the various and many church-related activities, he was the first president of OLPH Men's Association.
Bo was predeceased by his parents, siblings Julia, Anna, and Tony, and one nephew. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of more than 62 years, Thuda, his children (spouses), Mary, Hugh (Mary E.), Betsy, Philip (Laura), Annie (Chip), and his grandchildren, Christine (Bobby), Kimberly, Michael, Andrew, Mark, Catherine, William, Hugh V, Claire, and Jennifer. Bo is also survived by his sister Jerry, brothers Charlie, Bill, Phil, and Mac (and their spouses), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family is forever grateful to the many physicians and staffs who provided him compassionate care through the years. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral Catholic Church, 3214 N. Lake, on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Dr. Maguire's name to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral and Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School Endowment Fund.
