Ina Mae Schlegel

Ina Mae Schlegel was born on a farm near Pawnee Rock, Kansas on October 12, 1930 and passed away on May 28, 2017. She was the only daughter of Edward Herman John and Bertha Lebsack Mausolf. She graduated from Otis Rural High School in 1948 and completed a secretarial course at Brown-Mackie Business College in Salina, Kansas and then went to work in Great Bend, Kansas. On January 4, 1950 she married her high school sweetheart – Marvin Kenneth Schlegel and moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She joined St. Luke's Methodist Church in 1950 and became an active member. She and her husband started the "Wedding Ring Class" of which she remained a member through its fulfillment. She was a long time member of the Administrative Board, was the first woman Chairman of the Board of Trustees and was a member of the Missions and Worship committee for many years. Ina Mae was the Secretary-Treasurer of Insurance Marketers Agency, Inc. Through the years she was a member and held offices in community organizations including the Lyric Guild, Les Bon Livre Book Club, the Women's League of the Philharmonic Orchestra, Baptist Medical Center Auxiliary, National Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, University Heights PTA, Coronado Heights PTA, Hefner Junior High PTA. She was also President of the Putnam City High School PTA in 1971-1972. She loved any kind of music and continued to play the organ at home until her death. She loved to travel and with Marvin and they visited every state in the U. S. A. and many foreign countries. One of her favorite things was to attend her grandchildren's activities and sporting events. Ina Mae enjoyed many Oklahoma State University sporting events and was also a generous supporter of educational scholarships at OSU. She loved being a homemaker. The loves of her life were her family. Ina Mae was predeceased by one son - Matthew Kevin Schlegel who died on March 7, 1968, her parents and her brothers Lavern Mausolf and Kenneth Mausolf. She is survived by her husband Marvin, her son Mark Schlegel and his wife JoAnn, and her grandchildren Kevin Hess Schlegel and Debra Mollie Schlegel Sartin and her husband Michael Sartin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church Foundation.
