Irving C. Tang, age 88 of Oklahoma City, passed away on December 20, 2020 with his loving family at his side. He was born December 29, 1931 to Man Yan Tang and Wai Chun Chung in Macau, China. A highly educated man, his studies in middle school from Pui Ching in China; in 1947 he studied at Ling Ying College. He studied at UC Berkeley in 1952 eventually earning his Doctorate in Science in Mathematics from Washington University June 7th of 1965.His career included being the Math Department Head at Hong Kong Polytechnic University; a Math Professor at OCCC as well as OSU/OKC Campus. Irving was recognized by the International Biographical Center in Cambridge, England earning a Decree of Merit for an Outstanding Contribution in Mathematics. In 1997 Irving was named in the Marquis Who's Who and in 2017 the Albert Nelson Marquis Life Time Achievement Award. Those who loved and knew him best understood his affinity for sweets. He loved chocolate, mint chocolate and ice cream. Irving was a daily tea drinker and enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra music. His family will remember his pleasantness, possessing the rare trait of never showing anger. He loved to travel by car, driving around to see new things and trying new restaurants; his favorite being outdoor dining. He loved his cat pet companion and spending time reading. He loved football and cheering on his favorite team, the 49ers. Irving had an impressive collection of checkered shirts, polos and long-sleeve shirts. Through his life, travels, moves and career, Irving's most treasured keepsake was a glass plate picture of him as a young boy with his mother. Irving is survived by his loving wife, Lina Tang; son, Wallace Tang and wife, Margaret; son Anthony and wife Caren; daughter, Noemi and husband Emmanuel; daughter, Analyn and husband Ejay; as well as four beloved grandchildren, Caleb, Nikki, Nikka and Ethan.
