Jack Hamilton Blackman passed away on November 20, 2010 at his home. He was born June 18, 1926 to George Cecil Blackman and Ruby May Hamilton in Weleetka, OK. He graduated from Weleetka high school and at the age of 17, enlisted as an apprentice seaman in the US Navy Reserves on June 14, 1944. He served in Okinawa, Japan as Chief Petty Officer. After receiving an honorable discharge following the war, he earned a degree from OSU in Electrical Engineering. He began a career with Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KS, where he met and married his wife of 56 years, Rose Marie "Dolly" DeMezza on Feb. 3, 1954. After 20 years, they relocated to Independence, KS, where he was employed with ARCO Pipeline until he retired at age 55. He is survived by two brothers, Bruce of Brown Duncan and David of McAlester; two daughters, Donna Khan of U.A.E. and Diana Chalshotori of OKC; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. His presence will be greatly missed.
