John Joseph "Jack" Holland, 84, of Oklahoma City, died on February 21st at Mercy Hospital after a short illness. He was born August 8th 1931 in Hutchinson, KS to the farming family of Daniel Webster and Monica Cecilia Murry Holland, the 6th of 7 children. He and his bride Patsy Norris celebrated 61 years of marriage in December. He is also survived by his sister Monica Dick; sons, Michael (Mary), Mark (Lisa), and David (John); grandchildren, Jamie (Debbie), Brian (Alice Ann), Phillip (Nicole) and Patrick; and great-grandchildren, Theresa and John. He graduated from Kansas State Univ. in 1954 and was commissioned in the US Army, retiring as a Lt. Col. after 23 years. His military service included a tour in South Korea and two tours in South Vietnam. After retiring from the military he worked as the Service Manager at Ditch Witch in Edmond, retiring in 1999. A man of strong faith, he was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church for 39 years. He was available to the church and school to address any problem, organizing and working with his many friends. He loved to be of service. He was a loving father and grandfather, providing a wonderful example for his three college-graduate sons, as well as many others in his faith community. He will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. On Wednesday a viewing will be held at 5:30 pm, followed by a Rosary at 6pm at the Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel. On Thursday, Feb. 25th a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 2400 W. Hefner Rd., interment will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7801 N. W.
