Jacqueline K. "Jackie" Medley, passed away peacefully at the age of 88, on the last day of 2020. A life-long resident, she was born mid-summer in Oklahoma City to Paul and Thelma Fennessey in 1932. Jackie grew up attending John Carroll School where she formed lifelong friendships, one being her best friend, Pat Kearney. Jackie was a cheerleader and also met a favorite classmate through her years at John Carroll; her future husband, William "Bill" Medley. Jackie and Bill married June 7, 1952 and shared 68 beautifully blessed years together; Bill's term of endearment for Jackie as his "Jackiepoo" remaining a constant in their life's journey. Jackie earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Central State University and became a Registered Nurse, working her entire career for Dr. Jack Hough (founder of the Hough Ear Institute at Integris Baptist Medical Center and developer of the cochlear implant.) Jackie dedicated her time to many activities and memberships over the years; Marcellin Study Club, The Book Club, SOOF (Society of old friends), Oklahoma City Ski Club (where Bill was president) and the 9-Hole Ladies Club of her home course, Quail Creek Golf and Country Club. She and Bill were also dedicated members of Christ the King Catholic Church.Jackie and Bill loved entertaining, whether at their home in Oklahoma City; at Lake Tenkiller for over 40 years; in Vail while snow skiing each March or their winter's spent in Palm Springs. They remained inseparable throughout their marriage and traveled extensively throughout the U.S., visiting all of the presidential libraries. They vacationed on 6 continents and accumulated over 4 million air miles with American Airlines. Jackie's most treasured role was that as mother to her four children, Mark, Melinda, Mary and Michelle (whom she shared her home with and was especially close to); grandmother to four cherished grandchildren; and later, "Jackiebill" to her treasured great-grandchildren. Jackie was preceded in death by her son, Mark Joseph Medley; her husband, Bill; two sisters, Patricia Kunc and Barbara Killeen. She is survived by her children, Melinda Medley and Walter Lair, Mary and Jerry Dyer, and Michelle Medley; her brother, Paul Fennessey and wife Suze; grandchildren, Ryan and Shannon Medley, Marysa and Robert Lunsford, Kaitlyn Medley and Chris Hartman, and Cole and Chelsea Dyer; great-grandchildren, Mack and Mayes Medley and Madelyn Lunsford; as well as numerous friends and extended family.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2021 at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery Chapel with entombment to follow. To honor Jackie, contributions may be made to a charity of her heart, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
