Jameela Salamy

Jameela Kordahi Salamy, loving wife, mother, and grandmother (Sittie) made her gentle transition from this earthly life and was heaven bound to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at the age of 102. Jameela was born in Marjayoun, Lebanon, and was a life-time member of Saint Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church. Jameela lived her life with a grace and strength that shone as an example to those who knew her. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren who she adored and prayed for daily. She leaves precious memories with her her sons, George Salamy, Richard Salamy and his wife Phyllis; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, along with a host of adoring nieces, nephews, extended family and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Said "Sam" Joseph Salamy; son, Patrick Samuel Salamy; granddaughters, Rebeka "Bekah" Anne Salamy and Anna Jane Salamy. Jameela had many gifts, but may possibly be missed most for her quick and contagious laugh and smile and her gift of hospitality of great Lebanese food at Sunday dinners. Her home and heart were always open to people. She was a tribute to all things good and the lives of many have been enriched by her life. The legacy of her love, kindness, and unique understanding will always be carried on through the lives of those she touched. She will be forever, deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace until we are all united again, one wonderful day through the Grace of our Creator. The angels in heaven are rejoicing as they welcome her with open arms. The celebration service of her life will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 15000 North May Avenue, Oklahoma City. Services under the direction of V. Rev. Fr. John Salem and V. Rev. Economos Constantine K. Nasr, and Rev. Fr. Jeremy Davis. Interment to follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. The Salamy family has requested that friends honor Jameela's memory through the Flowers That Do Not Wither Fund through her church. The family also wishes to thank Mercy Hospital doctors and staff on the 3rd floor for their courtesy and wonderful care. "Always loved, forever missed, never forgotten! We travel through this life enriched by those we love."
