James A. "Jake" McDonald was born December 27th, 1926, and went to join his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Phyllis, and son, Monte, early Easter morning. Jake was one of four children raised in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he excelled at school and graduated early to gain acceptance into the service at age 17. During WWII, Jake signed up to serve in the Navy and joined the crew as a minesweeper on the YMS 411 before he had ever laid eyes on the ocean. His days in the service shaped him profoundly and produced a love for traveling. Upon return, he graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in business where he excelled in his position at Dulaney's, which allowed him to travel the world with his wife Phyllis. He will be remembered as a kind man, an excellent host, and a wonder husband, father, and grandfather. He had a laughter that filled the room, a smile that was contagious, and a golf swing to be envied. He lived his 91 years honorably and is survived by his twin daughters, Judy Murnan (Roger) and Jill Holmes (George); grandchildren, Bonnie Merritt, Patrick Murnan and Caylee Dodson; and great grandchildren, Mica, Mason, Aiden, Miles, and Elin. The family will have a private service at Jake's request.
