James Michael Brown

James Michael Brown, affectionately known as "Mike" to his loved ones, passed away on August 3, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on January 16, 1953, in Harrisburg, Illinois, to his parents Walt and Mary Ellen Brown.

Mike's proudest accomplishments revolved around his family. He and his wife, Ann, were married for almost 52 years. Their marriage has been an example to their children and others. He also took immense pride in his children Erin & Todd Gayer and Alee & Jake Fowler, as well as his grandchildren Jackson, Sam, Reagan, and Cooper Fowler. Family was very important to him.

Mike had a fulfilling career as the President of Bryson, Incorporated, an independently owned Anheuser-Busch distributorship. His dedication and hard work were evident up until he made the decision to sell the company in 1999. Alongside his professional accomplishments, Mike was a proud member of Britton Christian Church, where his presence and contributions were deeply valued. Mike loved serving the Lord and pointing others towards Christ.

One of the most cherished memories shared by those who knew Mike was his love for hosting large family gatherings and cooking for his family and friends. His specialty was frying fish, a skill that brought joy to many gathered around his table.

Outside of work and family gatherings, Mike had a range of hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. He loved traveling, hunting, fishing, and cooking. It was noted with fondness that he particularly enjoyed going on fishing trips with his wife Ann, despite her consistently out-fishing him.

Those closest to Mike remember him as a selfless and generous individual with a hardworking nature. His sense of humor and adventurous spirit made him a beloved figure in the lives of many.

In addition to his immediate family, Mike is survived by his sister Patty Bishop & her husband Gary; brother Steve Brown; sister-in-law & brother-in-law Beth & Jerry Butler; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Jim & Margaret Holmes; sister-in-law & brother-in-law Susan & Gene Steffey. Mike was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at 1 pm, on August 10, 2024, at Britton Christian Church in Oklahoma City. This service will be an opportunity for all those whose lives were touched by Mike to come together in remembrance.

Mike would want everyone to exercise their right to vote, as he felt that was the greatest privilege American’s have. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Britton Christian Church or Integris Hospice House.

Mike will be dearly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love for family and friends will continue to inspire those who carry memories of this remarkable man in their hearts.
