James Hoffman Harrod went to join his Lord on August 27th, 2018. Jim lived by the values imparted to him by his parents; God first, family and country. In all things he lived out these with a constant eye on his relationship to his Father and his Savior. James' commitment to his family and friends was unwavering as was his commitment to his country and community. Serving in a number of elected positions at the county and city levels, he constantly displayed his values through leadership, while mentoring to everyone with whom he came in contact.
The only son of Laynie Wisdom Harrod and Katherine Dahnke Harrod, James was preceded in death by Patricia Lovell Harrod, his wife of over 50 years; and his sister, Eleanor Susan (Harrod) Buxton. He is survived by his sister, Helen Harrod Thompson of Ardmore; son, John Lovell Harrod and wife Marsha; daughters, Laynie Katherine Harrod and Sara Harrod Hankins, all of Edmond, Oklahoma. James left behind grandsons, James G. Harrod, Blake W. Harrod, Capt. Arthur N. and Dr. Abigail Clymer; granddaughters, Jenny Lynn and husband George Wesley Gauthier, Laynie Katherine Hankins and Cyonne Alina Harrod. He was the proud great-grandfather of Brylee Harrod, Aden, Angel and Anderson Clymer, and Eleanor and Patricia Gauthier. He also leaves behind numerous nephews and friends who will mourn his loss.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond, Thursday August 30, 2018 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be sent to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
