James "Jim" Robert Broyles died suddenly on July 5th, 2023. Jim was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on February 10, 1977, to parents Dr. Robert and Dianne Broyles. He grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After graduating from Bishop McGuinness High School, Jim went on to study English at Tulane University. Jim settled in Philadelphia and embarked on a career at Rittenhouse Book Distributors, where he worked for 16 years. Known for his kindness and dry wit, Jim was a jack of all creative trades who cultivated a lifelong love of music, film, theatre, and literature. But it was the stage where he really came into his own. Jim spent over 15 years in the Philadelphia theatre community where he performed in more than 30 plays. Some of Jim's favorite roles included Jack Worthing in "The Importance of Being Earnest", Valere in "Tartuffe", Jim Bayliss in "All My Sons", Barry Champlain in "Talk Radio", and Ebenezer Scrooge in "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol". Jim will be greatly missed by his many friends and colleagues but most profoundly by his mother, Dianne, and brother, David and his wife, K.C.; niece and nephew, Beatrice and Hollis; uncles, Bill Fields, Bill Broyles and his wife, Anita; aunt, Sadie Carter; cousins, John Carter, Chip Broyles, Beth Corley, and Amy Begley. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, August 2, at the First Unitarian Church, 600 NW 13th St., OKC. In lieu of flowers, donations to either Casabuena Cultural Productions (https://fundraising.fracturedatlas.org/casabuena-cultural-productions) or The Stagecrafters Theatre (https://thestagecrafters.org/support/) will be greatly appreciated.
