Jane Ella (Ludwick) Schafers, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 30, 2010. She was born on September 7, 1926 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Chester and Etha Lee (Coker) Ludwick. She was a graduate of Okmulgee High School and received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma A&M in 1947. She married Charles Schafers on October 18, 1947. They lived in Stillwater, OK and then moved to Ponca City where they built their home and Chuck worked for Conoco. Jane taught PE at Jefferson Elementary for 20 years, enjoying her students and fellow teachers. A long-time member of First Baptist Church in Ponca City, she loved the Lord and her church. Jane was
an excellent cook and seamstress. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, friend and sister. Her favorite things include gardening, being with family and friends, playing bridge, OSU sports, traveling, and especially painting with oils and watercolor with her friends at the Ponca City Art Center. She adored her Welsh Corgi, Katy. She was preceded in death by her parents. Jane is survived by her husband, Chuck; her brother, James Ludwick and wife Jimmie of Chickasha; daughter, Krista Lee Reed and husband Tom of Oklahoma City; son, John Charles Schafers and wife Denise of Wichita, KS; five grandchildren, Amy Trent, Allison Farrand, Randal Schafers, Alan Schafers, and Andrew Schafers; three great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. We want to express our gratitude to Full Life Hospice for their loving care and compassion and to the staff at Clare Bridge North OKC. We also thank Jane's neighbors and friends in Ponca City who expressed their love to her, particularly the last few years of her life.
