Janet Suzanne Malone, devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away in her home in Oklahoma City January 10, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Doradean Neal, and husband Thomas F. Malone.
Janet was born September 18, 1943 in Elk City. She grew up in Oklahoma City, graduating from Northeast High School in Oklahoma City in 1961, by which time she had already started a successful career as a commercial graphic artist. Janet and Thomas were married soon thereafter. In 1969 they moved to Houston, Texas where they raised their family until moving to Honolulu in 1988.
While in Hawaii, Janet and her family were fortunate to enjoy club memberships including the Outrigger and Waialae. Until her passing, she was active in numerous volunteer organization which included the Hawaii Watercolor Society, Bible Study Fellowship, and P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Beyond her work as a commercial artist, Janet was a talented watercolor painter throughout her life, and produced many works that will be appreciated by friends and families for years to come. After returning to OKC from Hawaii in 2014, her creative interest shifted more toward gardening. She naturally loved to make beautiful things, whether on canvas or in the landscape of her yard.
Always ready with an authentic smile for anyone, Janet was blessed with a broad circle of loving friends, and that circle continued to grow throughout her life. Her enthusiasm for life, founded on her relationship with the Lord, and her seemingly effortless style made her memorable to most anyone who happened to meet her. By nature, Janet gladly took on any opportunity to help a friend or family in need. Even later in her life, at a time when others in her cohort required assistance, it was Janet who was there to provide, always without regard for praise or recognition.
First and last, Janet was a skilled, sensitive, and devoted mother and wife. She surrounded her children with the kind of love which engenders both security and confidence. She was a steadfast, tireless partner and supporter of her husband, particularly throughout his long and trying battle with illness.
Loved by so many who knew her, she will be dearly missed by both family and friends. Janet is survived by her children Michael, Stephanie, and Christopher, sister Cegail Collins, and niece and nephew Brenda and Brian.
