Janet Elaine Stein, 77, entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in Oklahoma City. Janwa’s undeniable charm and distinct wit will be remembered by friends and family. Janet was born on November 7, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, but early in life became a proud Oklahoman as well as a Sooner fan. She attended Putnam City Original High School and later Central State College. Janet was a lifelong learner in all things, but her inquisitive nature shined the brightest when she interacted with people. Janet’s influence was directly attributed to her ability to uplift others while making them feel important and valued. She was a resilient businesswoman, genuine friend, patient teacher, trusted confidant, positive voice of reason, fun competitor and incredible wife, mother, and grandmother.
Janet is survived by Children – Brad (Son) & Letha, Carl (Son) & Katarina, Steve (Son) & Amy Jones, Anthony & Mickey Sammons (Daughter), Yolanda Torrez; Grandchildren – Madison & Jacob Mason, Ashley Stein & Jess McAfee, Randi, Molly, Collin, Andrew, Avery, Sophia, Peyton; Great Grandchildren – Declan, Mila, Carli, Millie. Bonus Grandchildren – Hunter, Jessica, Amelia; Countless Friends & Additional Family.
Janet was preceded by many other loved ones whose spirits she carried on with her: Husband – Charles Stein, Mother – Millie Lamb, Father – Paul Jones, Sister – Judy Hansen, Grandchild – Anthony Stein, Best Friend – Flo Benard.
Friends and family plan to gather on Thursday, September 26 at 10:00 AM to celebrate and honor Janet’s life. The service will be located at the Village United Methodist Church – 2501 West Britton Road – Oklahoma City, OK – 73120. Following the service, there will be a graveside ceremony at Memorial Park Cemetery – 13400 North Kelley Avenue – Oklahoma City, OK – 73132.
