Jeanne Maxine Reynolds

On Halloween night, Jeanne Maxine Reynolds suffered a massive stroke from which she could not recover and passed away November 2. Born October 16, 1926 in Beggs, Oklahoma, Jeanne, the youngest of three children born to L.D. and Geneva Posey who soon moved the family to Shawnee where Jeanne attended Shawnee High School. During her senior year she winked and smiled at a young US Marine on leave from the Pacific theater, Paul Joseph 'PJ" Reynolds. With that "wink and a smile," as one of Jeanne's favorite songs goes, they quickly fell in love and were married in 1944. Jeanne's love and support of her husband was unwavering through hard times and great times until he passed from her by death in 1990. Jeanne's unlimited compassion, humor and wisdom were extended to her four sons and beyond. Family, friends and strangers who came to Jeanne's table were welcomed alike--no matter the hour or condition--where she lavished them with comforting food, good music, copious laughter and savvy life lessons. A devout Catholic, Jeanne manifested her faith accordingly, with due daily diligence to love, compassion and hope throughout her life. In her 83 years, Jeanne amassed not a single enemy--a feat few can claim in even a fraction of those years. Jeanne is survived by her four sons--Joseph Michael, St. Augustine, Florida; Paul David, El Reno; Jeffrey Alan, Oklahoma City and Brian Edward, Ft. Myers, Florida--and her beloved ten grandchildren: Joshu, Ama, Prajna, Austin, Evan, Ryan Joseph, Anthony, Shae, Duncan and Nolan. The love she bestowed on her children and grandchildren was endless and immense. Following her beloved husband's passing, "in many ways," she said, "I'm just here to take care of all of you." And she did. All of her children, her grandchildren, other family members, and her many friends, have been graced and blessed recipients of a bright, boundless love always infused with great style, humor, and strength. Despite death, Jeanne carries on as a vibrant, comforting presence in all their lives and in those who knew her. Her laugh will continue to echo in all their hearts, when least expected and most needed.
