Jerry L. Oden

Jerry Lamar Oden (Odie) passed away into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on December 7, 2021, at the age of 86. Jerry was born on January 28, 1935, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He Graduated from Classen High School, Oklahoma City, in 1953 and joined the Army in the 82nd Airborne following graduation. Upon returning from his service to our Country, Jerry graduated from Oklahoma City University and soon after entered into the Insurance Business where he remained for over 60 years.Jerry was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2007. This is where he and his devoted wife Evelyn began their 15 ½ year journey of battling this disease. His pain and suffering is now gone and he is rejoicing in Heaven.Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Hershel F. and Lillian E. Oden, brother, Eugene Oden (Genie), and beloved son Clayton B. Oden. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, daughter, Candace B. Barrett (Joel, Sr.) of Dallas, TX., daughter Kelly L. Oden, daughter-in-law, Angie Oden, of Edmond, OK, son Craig L. Oden (Amy), of Edmond, OK, nephew Mark Oden, grandchildren, Joel Jr., and Jerry Barrett, Cache Oden, Audrey, Carson, Olive, and Knox Oden.Jerry enjoyed playing golf and gin rummy at one of his favorite places… Oak Tree Golf Club. As a Charter Member of Oak Tree, Jerry made many memories with lots of great friends. Jerry was loved by whomever he met and operated in the insurance business with the utmost integrity.Visitation will be on Sunday, December 12th from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home - 14624 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73134. The Family will receive visitors from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 13th @ 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church – 3100 N. Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034 (1/2-mile N. of Covell Road), with a private interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Those attending the service in person will be asked to wear a face mask. The service will be livestreamed through St. Mary's Facebook page as well as there Youtube channel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Edmond, OK., or the charity of your choice.
