It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmy Clint Hufford. Clint was born in Oilton, Oklahoma on July 26, 1945 to Frank and Lanette Hufford. Clint passed away in Edmond, Oklahoma on January 16, 2025.
When Clint was born, his father was serving in the U.S. Navy, and his beloved grandfather, Ben Clark, gave him the nickname "Skipper," a name which stayed with him all of his life. Growing up in Nowata, Oklahoma, Clint enjoyed team sports and clubs, and he could often be found working on his car in the driveway of his childhood home on Shawnee Avenue. After graduating high school, he began college at the University of Oklahoma, paused his studies to enlist and serve in the U.S. Army for three years, and subsequently completed his B.A. in Business in 1971 at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. For over three decades, Clint worked various oil jobs from Tulsa to Houston. When he retired from this career in 2009, he moved to Pensacola, Florida where he worked in the powder-coating business with his stepson. In 2023, Clint moved back to Oklahoma to spend his golden years in Edmond, Oklahoma near his daughter Angela and her family.
Clint appreciated the simple things in life. He greatly enjoyed music, especially his favorites – Joe Bonamassa, The Rolling Stones, and Fleetwood Mac. He was a fan of history, mystery, and true crime TV shows and cheered passionately for his favorite football team, the OU Sooners. He loved card games, whether online or at the casino, and was a poker enthusiast. A good day included watching his backyard birds and having a Mexican meal at Ted's Café Escondido, with – of course – a Diet Coke.
Clint’s warmth and humor touched the lives of all those around him. Described as friendly, witty, giving, and easy-going, Clint had a knack for lifting everyone’s spirits. His love and care for his children, stepchildren, and Goddaughter are among the greatest gifts he gave. Always ready to help those in need, he leaves behind a legacy of generosity and kindness.
Clint is remembered lovingly by his daughters Angela Chard and Amanda Lovelace; sons-in-law Scott Chard and Dillon Lovelace; grandchildren Alexander Chard, Berkley Brooks, Sarah Chard, Beau Brooks, Brandon Brooks, and Samuel Chard. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Bekki and Buddy West. Clint was preceded in death by his parents Lanette and Frank Hufford.
A funeral service to celebrate Clint’s life will be held at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on January 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. As we bid farewell to our cherished father, brother, stepfather, papa, and friend, we carry with us treasured memories of his sweet and gentle way in the world.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in honor of Clint Hufford to VETS Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions.
