Ruth Joan Blacketer, born July 31st, 1946 in Perham, MN passed away in her home June 29th, 2023. She was 76 years old. She was preceded in death by her mother Opal "Jerry" Blacketer and her father Edward M. Blacketer. Joan had a long career in the hospitality industry covering sales, management and accounting for various hotels as well as the family restaurant businesses. She would be best known by those closest to her for her selfless devotion to family. She sacrificed her own career to tend to her father so he could live at home in his later years until his passing at 95. She was always selfless – far more interested in what you were doing than what she was up to. She loved to spend time and talk about her nephews and the grandchildren were up to and of course anything Oklahoma sports related. If you ever made the mistake of expressing any worry or concern for her as her health began to fade you were quickly corrected and told that she was just fine. She would undoubtedly roll her eyes at the thought of a celebration of her life…We apologize Joan but that is exactly what we are going to do on Tuesday July 11th, 2023 at 10:00, Resurrection Memorial Cemetery 7801 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73132.Joan is survived by her brother James Blacketer, her nephews James Blacketer Jr., Jeb Blacketer, the grandchildren Blake, Jack, Kendall and too many friends and neighbors to count.
