Joan was born in Wichita, Kansas to Freda and Clifton Dark May 1, 1937. Her family moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma in the mid 1950's. Joan later became a member of the Benedictine Sisters of St. Joseph Convent in Tulsa for 13 years. She taught school in Catholic and public schools in Oklahoma City and Tulsa and later worked in the insurance business in Oklahoma and Colorado. Joan came back to Oklahoma to become Associate Director of Renew and later Director of Evangelization for the Catholic Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. After her retirement, Joan enjoyed many new friends as well as house sitting with many dogs and cats. Joan had a love for family and friends, a light hearted sense of humor and appreciation for God's beautiful creation. Joan loved dinners with friends, book discussions, concerts and travel. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Freda and Clifton Dark and brother, Gary Dark. She is survived by sister, Delores and husband John Stangl; sister-in-law, Nancy Dark; nieces and nephews, Debbie Wittrock Miller, Steve Wittrock, Mike Wittrock, Pamela Dark Rodriquez, Deanna Matta and Rod Dark; grand nieces and nephews and many good and faithful friends.
