Joan "Jodie" Smith Lukeman died October 2, 2022, at age 94. She was born August 13, 1928, in Tulsa, OK, to Jesse and Mareta Smith. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School and attended The University of Oklahoma, where she joined Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She later graduated from The University of Tulsa, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. At TU, she served as Rush Chairman and President of the Tri Delt Chapter. Jodie volunteered at Mercy Hospital for 33 years giving over 21,000 hours of volunteer time and knitting thousands of baby hats given to newborns. She enjoyed her time with The Marceline Women's Study Group, Tri Delt Golden Circle and The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, where she served on the Southwest Lieutenancy Council for 15 years. Jodie was a long-time member of Christ the King Parish and served in several ministries. She was a wonderful hostess and caring friend to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Jeane Smith, and son-in-law Jim Behring. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, John Robert "Bob" Lukeman, and children David (Holly) Lukeman of Dallas, Diane Behring of Wichita, Kansas, and Greg (Susan) Lukeman of Tulsa, and sister, Reta Dohrer of Oklahoma City. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and their spouses: Kristi and Les Owens, Terri and Kelley Sparkman, Kati and Pete Furseth, all of Dallas; Kelly and Adam Wilson and Kory and Nathaniel Owen of Kansas City; Matthew Behring and Arielle Fissmer of Seattle; Claire and Hunter Mattocks, John and Lauren Lukeman, Anna and Brett Proctor, all of Tulsa, as well as 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Viewing and visitation with family will be at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 N May Avenue, Oklahoma City, Thursday, October 6,2022, at 7 pm with Rosary at 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Catholic Church 10:30 am, Friday, October 7.
