Joan Myrel Frank Barrett, 89, born March 12, 1927, in her grandparents' home in Oklahoma City to Myrel and Howard Frank, passed away peacefully November 2, 2016. Joan was a loving and supportive wife to her husband, Dorman; a devoted mother to sons Bruce, Mark and wife Charlyn, all of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and daughter Jan Harrison and husband Bill of Edmond; a caring Meme to grandchildren Barrett and wife Christian, Blake and wife Lauren, Victoria and husband Brian, Walker, Katherine and husband Jonathan; and to her three great-granddaughters Parker, Elliott and Isla. Joan lived in Daisetta, Texas until she was 7 when she moved with her family to Yukon. She graduated from Yukon High School in 1945. She married Dorman D. Barrett in June, 1946, and they shared 62 years together until he preceded her in death in 2008. They lived in Ponca City and Tulsa before returning to Oklahoma City in 1964. Joan was active in their churches wherever they lived. She was a longtime member of Our Lord's Community Church. Joan was cheerful, had a good sense of humor and was a wonderful Christian example to her family. She also loved playing bridge with her many friends. Her parents; sister Betty Frank Barrett; brother H.B. Frank, Jr. and husband Dorman preceded her in death. In addition to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Joan is survived by her sister Mary Kay and husband Jim Niles of Yukon, many nieces and nephews, and her dear friend, Otis Vermilion. Joan's life will be celebrated Saturday, November 5, 11:00 a.m. at Smith & Kernke Chapel. Memorials may be made to Our Lord's Community Church or to the charity of choice. "Well done, good and faithful servant."
