Joann Catherine Bramlett

JoAnn Catherine Bramlett of Oklahoma City went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 15th, 2022 at the age of 85. She was born in Oklahoma City on May 14th, 1936 to Joe and Cleo Shipley and was their only child. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1954. JoAnn met her husband Kenneth Bramlett when her aunt and uncle introduced her to the young man whose family moved in two doors down from where they lived. Although they went to different high schools Ken and JoAnn were high school sweethearts and were married July 29th, 1955 in Oklahoma City. They celebrated 66 years of marriage in 2021. When their daughter Cindy was born, JoAnn was fortunate to be able to stay home with her and to be involved in school activities. She was active in Girl Scouts and was an assistant Girl Scout Leader. She was always there whether it be a choir performance, piano recital, or any activity Cindy was involved in. JoAnn and several of her friends volunteered at University Hospital (now known as OU Medical Center) once a week for many years. She enjoyed volunteering very much and they enjoyed having her there. When Ken started his company and Cindy graduated high school, JoAnn went to work in retail sales at Street's at Mayfair where she worked for 12 years. She worked in the children's department and over the years enjoyed so many loyal customers who needed her help picking out a baby gift. JoAnn enjoyed working in the yard, planting flowers and making the backyard a great place to be. Our family had many dogs through the years and she was a loving mother to all of them. She and Ken gave homes to several rescued dogs and made a wonderful home for them. JoAnn loved family, beautiful flowers, animals, and a good romantic comedy movie.JoAnn is preceded in death by her father Joe Shipley, mother Cleo Shipley, brother-in-law David Bramlett, and son-in-law Jim Thompson. She is survived by husband Kenneth Bramlett, daughter Cindy Thompson, and sister-in-law Pat Bramlett along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park.
