John B. Stewart

John B. Stewart, 64 passed away peacefully at home March 14, 2011. He was born January 18, 1947, grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1965. He was known as a "gentle giant" in school – big, funny, friendly but a scrapper. He attended OSU, OU and graduated from UCO where he was an Acacia. He was a teacher and counselor for many years. He was a great influence on many young peoples' lives. He was particularly proud of his time spent teaching Navajo Indian students on their reservation and getting the ultimate compliment of a standing ovation at their graduation. He loved to help others and was always there for them. His passions in life were listening to music and OU football. He never missed a game. He was preceded in death by his mother Katherine McAdams, his father Cecil Stewart and brother Jim Stewart. He is survived by his stepbrother Sam McAdams, his stepsisters Marsha Cofer and Clauda Orrell, and his good friends Greg and Carol Chamberlin and Phyllis Livingston. He will be greatly missed - Boomer Sooner!
