John D. Chiaf, Sr.

John D. Chiaf, Sr.

John was born to Joseph and Philomena Chiaffitelli on August 1, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York. The son of Italian immigrants he quit school at the age of nine and went to work as a pharmacist assistant to help support the family during the depression. He worked as a machinist prior to volunteering for the Army Air Corps during WWII. John met our mom in Abilene, Texas while stationed at Dyess Air Force Base. They married on September 12, 1945 and moved to Oklahoma City where John worked as a waiter. He obtained his GED; began raising a family and started law school at the University of Oklahoma ultimately graduating from OCU law school in 1952. John practiced law in Oklahoma City for over 50 years, with an undying and never ending passion for helping those in need. John not only loved the "Law" but was an active real estate investor as well, with a knack for find the "right location". He was married to the love of his life "Jean" for 64 years. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean, his older brother Frank and sisters, Connie and Rose. He is survived by his 94 year old brother, Sal Chiaffitelli and wife Gladys; younger brother, Joe Chiaffitelli and wife Mary; his daughter, Jeannie Brentlinger; sons, John Chiaf, Jr. and Joey Chiaf; grandchildren, Joel Brentlinger, Matt Brentlinger, Chris Kordic, Nicole Dominque, Meghan Chiaf and Ashleigh Chiaf; eight greatgrandchildren, Michelle, Sophia, Javen, Bailey, Ryan, Eric, Crue and Brek; as well as countless friends and associates. The family would like to thank Desiree Beal for her compassionate care. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home Monday, September 21, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the family present and the rosary being said at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in his honor, Tuesday September 22, 2015 at St. Eugene Catholic Church in OKC at 11:30 am with entombment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer's Association – Oklahoma Chapter.
