John H. Carlton passed away in Oklahoma City on Sept. 3, 2010. He was born Dec. 12, 1931 in Sardis, OK, the son of Jesse J. and Willie M. Carlton. He graduated high school in Tuskahoma, OK. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. John went to work for Western Electric which later became AT&T, from whom he retired after 31 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed coon hunting and loved dogs. He loved his family and is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Bertha; 3 stepdaughters, Cecilia Monroe and husband Ken of Newalla, OK, and Sylvia Fenton and husband Harry and Marti Anderson of Edmond; step-son, Don Carlton of Oklahoma City; 1p grandchildren, including Shawn, whom they raised and loved as their own; and many great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Linda Ewing of Minco; three brothers, Jesse Carlton of Midwest City and Jimmy and Paul Carlton of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, one sister; two stepdaughters, Patti Small and Beverly Seals; and a stepson, Billy Wayne Carlton.
