Jack Hughes, 81, passed away October 16, 2017 after a sudden illness. He was born September 26, 1936 to TJ and Elizabeth Hughes and grew up in Cushing, Oklahoma. Following family tradition, Jack graduated from High School at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico. He then attended Southern Illinois University before entering military service in the United States Coast Guard. He was a proud patriotic veteran. Jack was a successful entrepreneur with a tenacious spirit which led him into many endeavors throughout his career. His extremely strong work ethic was one of his most admirable character traits. He also gave back to his community in various ways, among them, serving on the board of The Edmond Homebuilder's Association, Chairman of the Edmond Planning Commission, Mobile Meals and St. John's. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Michele of the home; son, Mark Hughes of Oklahoma City; brother and sister-in-law, Tom Hughes and wife, Sally of Tulsa; sister-in-law, Deanie Moore of Tulsa and brother-in-law, Pat Moore of Oklahoma City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by The Reverend John Metzinger on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at The Catholic Parish of St. John the Baptist, 9th and Boulevard in Edmond.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
