John Knox McLure went to be with his Lord November 12, 2010. John was born July 18, 1944 to Charles and Elizabeth McLure in Louisville, Kentucky. The family moved to Oklahoma when John was a child. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1962. Following high school, he served his country as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Oklahoma and earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Central State University in 1972. During this time, he met and married Cheryl Taylor. From this union, Matthew John McLure was born. John owned and operated McLure's Heating & Air Conditioning for 25 years, and he took great pride in his work.
John was a caring father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working with his son's little-league teams, and helping others. John was known for his soft heart and sweet spirit and, of course, his boisterous nature. He loved to make others happy and will be deeply missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth McLure and his in-laws, M.G. and Elaine Taylor. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, of the home; son Matthew and wife Kelly of Chicago; sister, Kelley Lowe of Plano, Texas and umerous other family and friends.
