John M. Hernandez

John M. Hernandez went to join his maker in heaven on November 4, 2016. He is survived by his brother, Frank M. Hernandez and his sister, Marguerite Hernandez; daughter Jamie Burger; grandson Hans Burger and wife Beth; granddaughter Heidi Lindsay and husband Kevin; great grandchildren Corbin, Adele, Brendan, Kylie, and Rylee; great-great grandchildren Samiyah, Adryanna, and Kamden; and numerous cousins. John was preceded in death by his wife Johna M. Hernandez; parents Refugio G. and Luciana Hernandez; brothers Ramondo and Albert; sisters Lucia, Cecila, and Emilia. John graduated from Central High School in OKC. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was stationed in Italy with the B-24 Liberator Bomber Group. After the war John worked as a pattern maker; and was a master carpenter. John and Johna were charter members of St. Charles Borromeo Church. They were both very active in the church for many years, John was a member of Knights of Columbus and Johna was part of the Altar Society. One of John's last assignments before he retired from A.R.K. and Shadid Foundries was building the pattern for the chairs for the OKC Memorial. A special thanks to the caregivers at Good Shepherd Hospice. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Elementary School. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 10 am to 6 pm at Smith and Kernke 1401 NW 23rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 pm Thursday at St. Charles Borromeo Church 5024 N. Grove Ave.
