Jack, a humble servant of the Lord went to heaven on May 28, 2015. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa November 18, 1926. At the age of 13 he and his parents, Charlie and Mildred O'Hern and sisters, Mary Baker, Pat McDonald and Sally Laden moved to Oklahoma City, OK. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School, Oklahoma City. Shortly after graduation he joined the Navy and proudly served our country during WWII. After the war he married his high school sweetheart, Frances "Bebe" Keough O'Hern. They were married for 43 years and had 8 children. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bebe; his dear son, Mike; his parents and 3 sisters. Jack's survivors include his loving wife of 21 years, Ruby O'Hern; daughters, Mary Collins and husband, Mike of Bethany; Peggy Mize and husband Richard of Houston, TX; Patricia Martinez and husband David of OKC; Susie O'Hern of OKC; sons, John O'Hern and wife Mary of OKC; Tom O'Hern and wife Audra of Mustang; Jim O'Hern and wife Donna of Houston, TX; step-daughter, Kim Turner; step-son, Frank Turner of OKC; 25 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. Jack was an accomplished and successful businessman. He joined his dad in the cattle business and operated O'Hern Livestock until retirement. Jack was a sports enthusiast and he and Ruby would never miss a Thunder game. He loved to entice anyone to bet him a $1.00 on a football game. Jack was a true patriot, proud of our country and what it stood for. He could discuss politics for hours. He was a talented dancer and he married his dance instructor Ruby. They entertained many with their performances. If you were lucky enough to know Jack he would dole out a good dose of his Irish wit on you. Jack's greatest accomplishment was the sharing of his faith in Jesus Christ with his family. We always had comfort in knowing that he had us in his prayers, especially through his devotion to the rosary. We will sorely miss him. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor him can be made to Catholic Charities, 1501 N. Classen Blvd., OKC, OK 73106. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 at St. Joseph's Old Cathedral.
