John Neil Crouch, 59, of Oklahoma City died suddenly on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010. He was born in Columbia, Missouri to Robert K and Jane (Gall) Crouch on February 13, 1951. John lived in Louisiana, Kansas and Texas before settling in Oklahoma City, where he attended Longfellow Elementary, Millwood Middle School and Classen High. He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. John was retired and proud of his lifetime involvement with the Boy Scouts of America. Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, he was also a member of the original staff of Slippery Falls Camp, later serving BSA as a Cub Scout den and pack leader. He last served as Unit Commissioner for the Baden Powell district of the Last Frontier Council. John was an accomplished singer and guitarist in his youth and was later well known for capturing life and the humor around him in his vivid stories. John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Christine (Redmond), his daughter Sandra and her husband Bryan Halcott, and by his son Robert John, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, both of his brothers, Donald K and James Frank and by his stepfather, Russell E. Henley. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 11th at 10 a.m. at Smith and Kernke funeral home, 1401 NW 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73106. Additional services and interment will be held in Lathrop, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America, earmarked for "Michael's Great Adventure," and addressed to 3031 Northwest 64th Street, Suite 100, Oklahoma City, 73116. This program provides discounted uniforms and handbooks directly to scouts in need. Donations may also be made to the charity of your choice.
