John R. Gardner

John Gardner has gone to heaven where he is no doubt arranging OU's next football season, bringing the oil prices back up and meeting those who have gone before him with smiles and joy, including all his 4 legged children which he adored. His brilliant mind, kind heart, generous spirit and sense of humor will be missed by all those who knew him. John leaves his wife of 40 years Joanna, sister Patti Ambruso, her husband Nick, nephew, Nicholas & family, and niece, Emily. His deceased brother Jim and sister GeorgeAnn left families also that loved John. During his illness John reached out and received Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He received great comfort and grace from knowing his sins were forgiven and heavenly freedom was his. A special word of gratitude for Jan Frichot, for bringing Jesus into his life as well as being Joanna's best friend. During the nearly 40 years of being married to Joanna life was never dull. Their acceptance of each other "just the way they were" was how they made it through the ups and downs of life. For better for worse, richer or poorer, through sickness and in health, their love endured it all. Joanna's brother, Grady Bateman, has been her strength and support. Grady's wife, Claudia, son, Brian and wife, Jodi, precious children Katelynn and Aubrey; daughter Julie &Tim James and daughter Emily & Jason Elkin all have delighted John and shared his passion for OU. John's long time friends, some from NW Classen, OU football tailgating buddies, friends from his oil & gas work, neighbors old and new are losing a member of their family too. We'll meet again!
