John Raymond (Ray) Henderson, 88, went home to be with his LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ on Thursday December 2, 2021 at his residence at Stone Creek Senior Living, North Richland Hills, Texas.He was born June 8, 1933 in Oklahoma City, the son of John and Dora Henderson. He attended both Oklahoma Baptist University and Oklahoma State University and served 2 years in the U.S. Navy Reserves.Ray grew up in Oklahoma City, mostly in the Capitol Hill area, but also lived in Houston, TX; Hartford, CT; Richmond, VA; El Dorado, AR; Richardson, TX; Allen, TX; Midland, TX; El Paso, TX; Orange County, CA; Denver, CO; Broken Arrow, OK; and Bedford, TX, before moving to Stone Creek Senior Living in North Richland Hills, TX in 2019. Ray spent the majority of his professional carrer in the HVAC industry in design, engineering and sales. Ray also served 2 years as a police officer in Warr Acres, OK, 1 year in El Dorado, AR, and 6 years in Allen, TX. He returned to the HVAC industry in sales and retired from Johnson Controls.In his early adulthood, Ray served as music minister in Baptist Churches in the Oklahoma City area. He was a longtime member of Shady Oaks Baptist Church in Hurst, TX. Ray was an avid golfer passing that on to all his children into their adulthood. He also enjoyed acting in local theater. Ray was married to Nancy Ann Walker on August 24, 1952 and remained together until Nancy went home to be with the LORD February 3, 2020.Ray is survived by children: Ed, Jane, and Rick; grandchildren: Tylor Henderson and his wife Kaycee of Allen TX; Jessica Henderson of Jay, OK; Michael Henderson and his wife Morgan; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Zachary, and Sydney; Elijah and Jayce; as well as 3 nieces, 5 nephews and their families.He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of nearly 68 years, Nancy; brother, David in 2018; bother-in-law, Bill Campbell in 2018; sister-in-law, Caroline Campbell in 2021; daughter-in-law, Raelene Henderson in 2020; and grandson, Sean Henderson in 2019.Graveside memorial service will be held at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
