John Fletcher Sharp Jr, 86, died March 29, 2025. He was born in Oklahoma City on May 28, 1938 to John and Frances (Price) Sharp. He was named in honor of his grandfather, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Oklahoma Judge John Fletcher Sharp.
Fletcher grew up in the Heritage Hills and Nichols Hills areas of Oklahoma City and graduated from Northwest Classen in 1956, in the school’s first graduating class. In 1961, Fletcher graduated from the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. He also served in the Marine Corps Reserve.
After college, his first job was with Dun & Bradstreet in Dallas, TX. He then worked 10 years in the real estate business in Oklahoma City. He started his career as a landman and right of way agent for Coates Field Service in 1974, and he worked as a landman until his retirement in 2013.
Fletcher will be greatly missed by his loving family: his wife of over 50 years, Carolyn; daughter Christina Sharp of London, England; and son Jay Sharp of Oklahoma City. A private burial service will be at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City.
