John Walter Chyz was born in Strawn, TX on February 12, 1922. He passed away on November 8, 2010 in Oklahoma City. John was a Shawnee High School graduate. He served in the United States Army with the 83rd Armored Field Artillery Battalion during WWII. He completed his Bachelor's in Business at the University of Oklahoma where he lettered in baseball for 4 years. John worked many years and retired from The Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. He was the President of the Downtown Lions Club; awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow from Lions Club International for Humanitarian Services. He was one of the founding members of St. Eugene Catholic Church. John was preceded in death by his first wife Peggy in 1982. His survivors include his wife Charlene; daughter Margaret Busio and husband Marlo, step daughter Jan Hopwood and husband Tom; sister Bea Driver; grandsons Ryan, Keaton, Brennan Busio, Mike and Steve Hopwood; niece Janice Abernathy, nephews Tommy Driver and Gary Chyz.
