Jon Daris Parker, 54, passed away March 18, 2014. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 19, 1959 to The Reverend Wayne B. Parker and Barbara Lawhon Parker. The family moved to Oklahoma City in 1961 and Jon was in United Methodist Churches in Oklahoma and New Mexico where his father served as pastor. Jon received an Associate's Degree at Murray State College in Tishomingo and was a reporter for the Johnson County Democrat. He later moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he was a technical writer for Becton Dickinson, a medical supply company. He returned to Oklahoma in 2012 when his health began to decline. Jon had a lifelong passion for cooking and delighted family and friends with his talents. He also volunteered at Wesley United Methodist Church in the Mobile Meals program, cooking for college students, and assisting in the church kitchen. Jon was preceded in death by his brother, Dale. He is survived by his parents, his step-mother Katherine; former wives Elizabeth McDonald Hall, and Marnita Meador Foster; sister Robyn Janelle Tovar; and children Daris Parker, Heather Brown, and Chad Williams; grandson Samuel Kruman and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He adored all of them and their children. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 21, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Oklahoma City. Memorials may be sent to the Mobile Meals program at Wesley United Methodist Church.
