J.R. "Bud" Fulton

J.R. Fulton, 86 – affectionately known as “Bud” to his friends and family passed away on March 10, 2024.  Bud was born October 14, 1937 in Oklahoma City.

Bud was a seasoned Commercial / Industrial Real Estate Broker who founded and operated his own firm, JR Fulton & Associates since 1968.  Many in the real estate industry know Bud from the recognition he received as the 1992 Realtor of the Year from the OKC Metropolitan Association, the Oklahoma Association and the National Association of Realtors.  He was President of the OKC Metropolitan Board of Realtors in 1981 and received the 2001 VIP Award from the Commercial and Industrial Division of the OKC Metropolitan Association of Realtors.  He earned the designation of CCIM and SIOR and was a Life Member of the Oklahoma Association of Realtors.

No one loved life more than Bud and he lived life large.  His philosophy was “the more the merrier” whether it was Thanksgiving at the lake or a football watch party at home.  Bud was a great master of the grill who was happiest taking short orders for ribs, chicken, shrimp and oysters or his favorite, steaks.  His two passions were people and business and fortunately they mixed well.  Real estate was the perfect career as it gave Bud the opportunity to talk to people all day long.  He also managed to fit in the occasional trip to Europe or the tropics and loved to look back and declare that he had created more wonderful memories.

As his many friends and family would testify “Bud makes you feel important, like I’m his best friend”.  He was genuinely always happy to see you and would greet you with warmth and kindness regardless if you knew him for a quarter of an OU football game or your whole life.  He always saw the best in people and the silver lining in any situation. His smile, optimism, generosity, enthusiasm and friendship will be so greatly missed by all of us who were lucky enough to know him and have him in our lives.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Walter B and Ruby Fulton; son, Jay Fulton; nephews, Steve and Jerry Norton; niece, Mitzie Norton; and grandparents, Thomas and Maude Fulton, and Oscar and Bertha Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Paula; daughter, Kima Fulton; sister, Faye Norton; granddaughter, Emma Fulton-Landry; stepsons, Reece and Brent Lansberg and many other important family and friends.

Viewing will be at Smith & Kernke, 14624 N. May Ave. on March 14 between 5pm-7pm. Service is to be held Friday, March 15 at 11am at Church of the Servant, 14343 N MacArthur Blvd. in Oklahoma City followed by internment at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13313 N Kelley Ave.
