Judy Love, a respected philanthropist who co-founded Love’s Travel Stops, passed away in Oklahoma City on November 5, 2024 at the age of 87.
Together with her late husband, Tom Love, she established the company in 1964 and played a crucial role in its growth, overseeing bookkeeping and holding key positions as they expanded to 42 states.
Her warmth and generosity made a lasting impact on the Oklahoma City community. Judy’s legacy will continue through her children, Greg, Laura, Jenny, and Frank, her nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and the many non-profit organizations she supported and established.
Born in 1937 in Chicago, Judy Love, daughter of Ed and Ruth McCarthy, moved to Oklahoma City at an early age. She had a passion for philanthropy and community service and was instrumental in guiding Love’s charitable giving through the years. Judy was a past board member on 11 civic boards, and chaired or co-chaired 14 major fundraising drives for the community. In her lifetime, she had received more than 30 awards including being inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2010.
She will be remembered for her generosity and kindness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2024, at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help located at 3214 N. Lake Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73118. Seating is limited. Following the funeral, please join the Love Family at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club located at 7000 NW Grand Blvd, Nichols Hills, OK 73116 to celebrate Judy’s life and consider wearing red in her memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy’s memory may be made to United Way of Central Oklahoma.
