Judy Ann Brown Reeder was born on Dec 3, 1938, in Ardmore Okla. She died March 25, 2025, in Okla City. Judy was the only child of Julius Graham Brown and Edna Jessie Powers Brown. The family left Ardmore when she was 8 and moved to Ft Worth, Texas, where her father was a switchman for the railroad.
She and her mother moved back to Ardmore following the death of her father when she was 14. She graduated high school in Ardmore in 1956 and married James Donald Reeder Sr. on Feb 28, 1957. While Don was active in the military, she was able to see a lot of the world. They lived in Pakistan for several years and several states across the US.
She enjoyed quilting and cofounded the Western Okla Quilt Guild. Judy was an avid reader; books about history, religion, or autobiographies were her favorites. She was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in OKC. She was also a proud member of the DNC.
She loved taking her grandchildren on shopping trips, bookstores, libraries, parks and several trips to family cemeteries. She always looked for teaching moments on family history. In her later years, her favorite times were visits from family and friends.
Judy is survived by her two daughters Teri Branson and husband Todd and Sheri Mendenhall and husband Mike; one son Jimmy Reeder and wife Cathy; 8 grandchildren: Tyler Branson and wife Jamie, Tara Pitts and husband Stephen, Alyssa Dungan and husband Swade, Alysson Cordell and husband Dalton, Trevor Mendenhall, Chyann Reeder and fiancé Coty Wooten, Jara Reeder and fiancé Diquan Bradford and Madison Webb and husband Kristopher.
