Karen Hugos Dean, was born May 8th, 1946, at St. Mary's hospital in Enid Oklahoma, to Adolphus Bernard and Elva Pray Hugos. Spending most of her life in Oklahoma City, Karen passed on May 21, 2021.As a child, she got her zeal for dancing at Ms. Quinn's dance studio in Warr Acres. Apparently, these lessons paid off as she won the high school twist contest at Putnam City Reunion and was an active member of the pep club and 12 year club.At the age of 12, Karen felt "so adult" when her parents allowed her to work at Wanda's hair salon. The next stop was at Tim's, her favorite hotdog stand. From these humble beginnings, Karen followed in the footsteps of her mother's long career as an administrative assistant. She began with local businesses, and then to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences where she joined Dr. Moore and finally, 40 years with Mr. G.T. Blankenship, with whom she was so proud to work with. She was a die-hard Sooner fan and never missed a game. She had a special bond and love for all of her neighbors and had a special love for animals, especially her cat Buddy. She traveled with her late husband, Jim Dean and later with her best friend Linda Harkins. She enjoyed skiing, dancing, painting, and oh how she could cook (it was a labor of love to her). In between investment club and yearly high school reunion planning, she was always front-runner for yard of the month.Hands down, one of her very favorite things to do was to spend time with her beloved niece, Natalie. From elaborate Christmas celebrations to Easter egg hunts to baking cookies, to playing games on the computer, she always had a great activity for them to share.Karen is survived by her brother, William, his wife Wiley and their daughter, Natalie Hugos; her step children, Mark and Elena and their sons, Trevor and Nicholas Dean. Matt Dean. Cousins, Merwyn and Sharon Pray, Carolyn Mettee, Robert Hugos and Sharon Lewis.
