Karen passed away peacefully Friday, November 20, 2020, at Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation Center in Oklahoma City.She was born April 24, 1934, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Pete and Esther Robertson. She grew up as a member of the Methodist church and attended all schools in Anamosa. She then went to the University of Iowa where she received a nursing degree. After graduating from nursing school, she worked as an emergency care nurse at the University of Iowa Medical Center for two years. This is when and where she met the love of her life, Herb Klontz. They moved to St. Louis where she worked two years at a mental health facility while Herb earned his Master's degree as an orthodontist.Moving to Oklahoma City in 1962, she became very active in the Dental Auxiliary and a champion tennis player at the Quail Creek Golf and Country Club tennis program. She was a wonderful mother, raising two children, Kelly and Kathy. She also lived effortlessly touching the lives around her just by her presence. She loved, she was loved and she will not be forgotten for she is with us now, not in person, but as one of the most beautiful beings, our guardian angel.Karen is survived her devoted husband of 61 years, Dr. Herb Klontz; her son, Dr. Kelly Klontz and his wife Terrie; her daughter, Kathy Nassimbene; two granddaughters, Morgan and Lilly Klontz as well as a four month old wonderful great-granddaughter, Kylie, of whom they are very proud. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Jim Robertson, his wife Rose and their three boys, Kevin, David and Dr. Jeff; her sister-in-law, Pat, her husband Nick and their three children, Brian, Kurt and Julie, and their extended families.In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the ASOON Scholarship Fund at the University of Iowa College of Nursing, which was established by Karen and five of her close friends who were all classmates in the College of Nursing Class of 1957.
